Abstract

ISO 9001 certification has been a requirement for higher education to be internationally acknowledged. The question whether the implementation is beneficial to higher education is still a controversy. This study is conducted to find out whether the ISO certification is felt beneficial or not. A questionnaire survey is distributed to ten faculty members and ten administrators which take place in Sahid College of Tourism as a case study that has implemented ISO 9001:2008. The result of the study is presented descriptively and Analysis of Variance is used to find out whether there is a significant difference between the groups. From this study, it shows that overall both groups have positive perception about the implementation of ISO. However they are hesitant whether the implementation has been accurate as required and not really satisfied with the service provided by certification body. There is a moderate perception whether the institution needs to implement the system in the future. This study also indicates that there is a significant difference in perception of both groups. Further training is needed to internalize ISO to be implemented accurately for the purpose of good practice not just for the purpose of marketing
